About Playplain Online

A small browser game about the satisfying distance between “I have no idea” and “that was surprisingly close.”

Playplain Online is an independent estimation game. We enjoy the simple loop of making a guess, seeing how close it was and learning something worth remembering. Seven-round flights keep a daily challenge short; unlimited practice leaves room for another try.

What inspired this game

The gameplay takes inspiration from Plain at playplain.app and the unlimited-play pattern seen at playplain.org. This site is not operated by those sites, and our daily challenge is not their official daily puzzle. Our code, interface artwork, question selection and explanations are independently produced.

What we try to get right

Both answer types should be easy to understand. The timer should start only after you choose to play. A result should explain the value and its source, not just say that a guess was wrong. You can read the complete rules before starting a daily flight.

The first collection is deliberately focused on four sourced categories. We prefer clear units, dated facts and familiar names to a huge unreviewed question bank. The sources page lists the collection and attribution so you can check each reference.
